I am a South African living in the UK, having lived all over the place for the last 2 decades. I was homesick for 20 years (it’s a long time, believe me) and am writing in response to what I call the ‘grass-is-greener’ syndrome – the sense that things may be better somewhere else. I am blogging to remind myself (mainly), that quite often, the grass is greenest under our own feet. This is not always easy. Sometimes it requires willpower, it usually requires a sense of humour, and, definitely, a selective memory. Other helpful props include: a blindfold, lobotomy doctor on speedial, and free (business class) airtravel for the rest of your life. Welcome. Dumela. ‘dag.
